The ends were fine but the center rods were not as long as the

The ends were fine but the center rods were not as long as the originals so my husband sand blasted and painted the originals to have more thread in tube and therefore stronger because these rods were short by a lot only having minimum engagement of thread on the ends. That would make an unsafe ride.
